Cliff's F100 . . .

'D' can be seen welding in a new floor pan section that he has cut out and swaged before welding it in . . .

New front corners for the cabin. These have been a prick of a replacement in the past but new rst replacement panels have made the job a lot easier . . .

Driver's side has been replaced as well . . .

D's Ride . . .

'D' has been working overtime lately on pimpin' out his ride. Have a look at this bad-boy. "Nothin' going on in here folks, please keep moving!"

Full on Euro look with the sun roof jacked open and the sleek grey with 19inch rims pumpin' out the guards. Mother's please take the time now to lock up your daughters, this Saloon is rollin'. . .

Cliff's F100 . . .

Cliff's F100 minus its cabin looking very very undressed and miserable. The cabin, BTW, is sitting on stands behind the rear tub and is receiving its fair share of rust removal.
Looking carefully to the left of Cliffy's truck and you can see brother in law Danny's ride in for a few changes as well . . .

First the old rusty section is removed and a new piece is fabricated and tack-welded into place. . .
BTW, That's 'D' whipping himself into a frenzy in the background . . .

Then 'D' turns her over and cleans up the welds ready for a bit of etch priming. . .

And speaking about Danny's ride, you can see how Dave has been bending up a subframe for the hoist's hydraulic ram. More to follow. . .

Bob's '34 Coupe . . .

After the engineer canned the first set (supplied) of wheel guards, Hodgey had to set about and make up a set of his famous replacement guards. Front and rear and looking great, as usual . . .

Thursday 25 June 2015

WTF ???

I heard Hodgey say "you two get in under there and fix things up.",but I'm pretty sure that he wasn't referring to their relationship?

And I'm bloody sure he didn't mean that it was time for some 'spooning' while on the clock!

'29 Model A Tudor . . .

Now the crosss beams are in place the roof is looking like a housing construction zone . . .

Doesn't make any differance which angle you look from, this is certainly going to be on hell of a ride . . .

Close up look at the wooden fittings and hangers that Hodgey made up from scratch. The woodwork is certainly a very neat closely fitted finish . . .

'27 Willy's Salt Racer . . .

'D' is still ticking away at fabricating panels for the Salt Shaker . . .

Close up of the little front skirts that will eventually mould in to fit the chassis and front foil. Tedious and very time consuming!

'27 Willy's Salt Racer . . .

'D' is back on duty running new side skirts along the LHS of the Salt Shaker. Flapper discs are working overtime to smoothe out the welds and get the skirts flowing perfectly. . .

'29 A Model Tudor . . .

Brad's old Tudor has seen some changes but no more-so than Hodgey hanging up his welding mask and dragging his old carpentry tools out for a run. . .

Truly to style, the old A Model is getting a timber, not wooden, frame for the vinyl/leather roof. Remember, timber is wood that has had its bark taken off . . .

Bob's '34 Coupe . . .

Interior is certainly remaining true to Bob's wishes of an old 'warbird' theme with aircraft guages and switches taking ride of place in the custom alloy dash/fascia that is surrounded by pop rivets . . .

Full louvred boot and big wheels as well as the wind up key gives the impression that this bird is a serious piece of machinery . . .

Taranto Trailer . . .

We're all accustomed to seeing the many Taranto Fords that keep popping up for work and re-furbishment, but now it's time for the old tandem to get a spruce up. First off she had to be stripped and then sand blasted by Jaimie around at PK Sandblasting and just for good measure Jaimie threw a coat of Ford Blue over it's shiny new exterior. . .
When it was returned to the shed, the boys mounted a new heavy duty 12,000 pound electric winch, larger jockey wheel and new anti theft spare wheel mounts. . .

'27 Willy's Salt Racer . . .

Up front we have a Salt Shaker with headlights and new front guards. . .

While out back, we have a Salt Shaker with tailights and new rear guards. The hole in the middle is for the 'wind-up' key . . .

'27 Willy's Salt Racer . . .

Rear drums are now fitted up and can now be removed for cleaning. Certainly a big job out of the way trying to fit tapered roller bearings into a squared shouldered cut-out. The drum set-up certainly looks more at home than the huge discs that were original fitment to the diff housing . . .

Side skirts running the full length of the car certainly add character and fit the build . . .

The front skirting that fits in and around the front end was masterfully created by Hodgey himself. After all the beding and cutting etc., her handed the skirt over to 'D' to fit the front control arm cur-out. . .

Cut out finished and control arm resting in place. Hodgey certainly did a great job of moulding metal and getting it to flow around the chassis . .

It's getting harder and harder to show you all the inticate work that is being moulded onto this car. Trouble is, this jig sits right outside Hodgey's office door and on the other side is one of the main work benches. Watch this space as the shed is about to increase in floor space to allow the seperation of jigs and hoists and workshop space so there will be plenty of new room to walk around the cars without climbing over benches and laying half under other projects at the same time . . .

Danny's F100 . . .

This is the RHS guard that 'D' was working on last week? He had to add 10mm of steel to the inside lip so that the guard would butt up squarly with the tub . . .

Side view and I think that we can all see that the guard is a lot better fit to the tub now. We'll have to wait and see what happens to the other side coz 'D' is working wonders on the slip-streaming side skirts of the Salt Racer at the moment . . .

'27 Willy's Salt Racer . . .

Dylan has been busy making up new skirts for the Salt Racer and due to the shape of the car it has been necessary for him to roll out 6 identical skirts and now the fun and games begin. Each piece of shirting has to be cut, bent and welded into place arounf the chassis and running boards of the classic old Rod. . .

Staying true to form, it has been decided that the rear discs should be removed and traditional drum brakes put back in place. This is one of those jobs that takes forever getting new parts to fit nto places they weren't designed to go. Biggest problem here being tapered roller bearings compared to square edged encased bearings. . .

These replacement drums have to be pulled down and completely rebuilt with new cylinders and shoes. First stop is the sandblaster then the drums will have to be machined so that the new shoes will bed into a square surface for full braking capabilities . . .

Monday 15 June 2015

I'm back . . .

Yes, I'm back but I've been dragged out of Winter hibernation kicking and fucking screaming just to keep you lot happy. Now that I'm out of my cosy nest, braving the elements just so you lot have something to read, you could at least buy me a scarf and mittens so my hands aren't shaking so much when I'm trying to take pictures of your cars. After all, it takes bloody skill to make some of your shitheaps look so bloody good on paper . . .

Danny's F100 . . .

Dylan has added the steel piece around the bottom of the dash to house some A/C outlets and switch panel, the new steel blends into the old dash superbly . . .

Now 'D' has turned his attention to the rear guards and as you can see he has added approx., one centimeter of steel to the inside edge to square up the adge so the guard butts up to the tub more snuggly. . .

'27 Willy's Salt Racer . . .

Nothing like a nice Flat-top. Newly prepared and poking a couple hundred horses out the arse end with twin Strombergs sitting on top, doesn't get any better!

Nice looking droop snoot for the front adds a lot of character and helps tame the airflow around the car. Just needs a nice radiator now to block that rather large hole that's been left . . .

'29 Model A Tudor . . .

The Big Fella has had nearly all his time taken up this year making and fitting custom mud-guards to HotRods. With all the interuptions that he has had this week, it has taken four days to get this part of the overall project complete. . .

A squeezy little look into the rear space of the front end shows the new guards follow the contours of the front wheels very closely . . .

Here's a great pic of the rear end showing the new rear guards and the newly installed tail-lights . . .

Close-up of the 'Frenched' tail-lights that are new aftermarket units borrowed from an early Cadillac. A lot of work, but a great looking result . . .

Cliffy's F100 . . .

Front of the tub shows where 'D' Has blended the edges into the same shape as the rears . . .

Here's a closeup of the fabrication work that has been custom made and moulded to fit by the 'D' . . .

How's this for a custom set of mini-tubs that add a gentle arch to the inner sides of the tub. Not only does it give the wheels somewhere to go during rebound the shape is cosmetically smoother and more appealing than dirty great squared edged monoliths that most utes are carrying these days . . .

There's a lot going on here boys and girls. The rear LED tail-lights and indicators have been fitted into the rear beaver panel as well as the inlaid numberplate frame. This is the first pick with the tail-gate in place showing a very classy and forward flowing rear end . . .

Thursday 4 June 2015

Cliff's F100 . . .

After 'D' had done such a great job with the firewall, Dave has connnected up the two front guards and given the firewall a coat, or two, of paint . . .
New LHS rear guardfitted to the tub, but have a look at the artwork that 'D' has turned out at the top and bottom of the tub's corners to round them off and blend them into the guards. Sensational!

Big surprise here folks, Cliffy wanted his rig to be a big Tonka truck and we all know that they have to be 'Tippers'. Yep, hydraulic tipper for the tray. If you have a close look at this and the previous pic, you will see that the rear Beaver panel had to be carefully raised and radiused so that the tray can tilt to the max while the F100 is sitting on its guts in the weeds . . .
