I tried putting up this pic last night but the puter had other ideas. As you can see from the pic, the wagon is in very good condition but things change quickly in this shop. . . .
Faark, it looks like Dave's taken out half the bloody side wall of the car in this pic, but it's just the angle so don't go shittin' your pants just yet!
Dave's been busy welding up the sides of the chassis rails where the inner spacing between the tubs and chassis rails have been removed. The rails look nice and tidy now and ready for the inner tubs to be welded into place. . .
You can see in this pic of the LHS chassis rail, Dave has been tacking the sides of the rail back in place before fully welding and then grinding things back together. . .
Looking up through the wheel arch and into the cabin shows that although only a small strip of metal will be added to the tubs to widen the space, there is certainly a sizeable gap to be filled. Nice hood lining by the way!
This is the pic the shows roughly how much metal the boys will weld into the wheel tubs to get that extra width that is required for the bigger rims going on. By the time that they have welded in the strip, grinded out the rough edges and painted up the 'new' mini tub it will look like a factory wheel arch. . .
