'27 Willy's Salt Racer . . .
Dylan has been busy making up new skirts for the Salt Racer and due to the shape of the car it has been necessary for him to roll out 6 identical skirts and now the fun and games begin. Each piece of shirting has to be cut, bent and welded into place arounf the chassis and running boards of the classic old Rod. . .
Staying true to form, it has been decided that the rear discs should be removed and traditional drum brakes put back in place. This is one of those jobs that takes forever getting new parts to fit nto places they weren't designed to go. Biggest problem here being tapered roller bearings compared to square edged encased bearings. . .
These replacement drums have to be pulled down and completely rebuilt with new cylinders and shoes. First stop is the sandblaster then the drums will have to be machined so that the new shoes will bed into a square surface for full braking capabilities . . .
